Developing A Sensing System for the Measurement of Oxygen Concentration in Liquid Pb-Bi Eutectic: Quarterly Progress Report (Aug. 01 – Oct. 31, 2003)

The experimental setup designed and manufactured in UNLV was shipped to LANL in early Aug. One student has been working in LANL to conduct the experiment since then. In the meantime, one new Ph. D. student has started to run the simulation for transport in oxygen mixing. In Oct., a professional has been hired to work in both experimental and the theoretical studies pertaining to the proposed work

A unifying combinatorial approach to refined little G\"ollnitz and Capparelli's companion identities

Berkovich-Uncu have recently proved a companion of the well-known Capparelli's identities as well as refinements of Savage-Sills' new little G\"ollnitz identities. Noticing the connection between their results and Boulet's earlier four-parameter partition generating functions, we discover a new class of partitions, called $k$-strict partitions, to generalize their results. By applying both horizontal and vertical dissections of Ferrers' diagrams with appropriate labellings, we provide a unified combinatorial treatment of their results and shed more lights on the intriguing conditions of their companion to Capparelli's identities.Comment: This is the second revision submitted to JCTA in June, comments are welcom

Coupled-Channel-Induced S−DS-D mixing of Charmonia and Testing Possible Assignments for Y(4260)Y(4260) and Y(4360)Y(4360)

The mass spectrum and the two-body open-charm decays of the $J^{PC}=1^{--}$ charmonium states are studied with the coupled-channel effects taken into account. The coupled-channel-induced mixing effects among the excited vector charmonia are studied. Based on our calculations of the masses and the decay widths, we find that the tension between the observed properties of $Y(4260)/Y(4360)$ and their conventional charmonia interpretations could be softened.Comment: 13 pages, 5 figures, 5 table
